1 John 5:1 tells us that as believers we can overcome the problems the world throws our way.
All of us reading this are currently facing hurdles in life, some hurdles higher than others, but we all have them in our path. Its just very comforting to know that God promises us the strength to clear those hurdles.
First let me say that our family is doing wonderful. Christian is hilarious, he is everywhere, getting into everything. He really enjoys watching the kids in the neighborhood play hockey on the street. His favorite shirt is his Hockey shirt and everytime we go outside he says "play hawkey" He says hawkey, he may have a little southern draw, I have know idea where that may have came from!
Cooper is doing great as well, He was Charlie Brown for Halloween and Christian was a farmer, in overalls carrying his shovel along with him. Most people in our neighborhood had no idea what he was. I dont think to many of them have ever even seen a farm, but they were very cute.
Cooper has been doing very well, he is improving in lots of areas, especially in his speech he is using more words all the time. Coop has came a long way and progressed a ton since we have been in Florida. Brittney and I have faith that Cooper will continue to get better and that we will be able to mainstream him into a typical classroom, when he starts kindegarten next fall.
I spoke earlier about overcoming the hurdles that are thrown our way, through our faith in God. Brittney and I have had many hurdles over the past couple years, some of the hurdles were pretty high and our worldly thinking would tell us, " there is no way you can get over that hurdle, it is just impossible to get this done" and if we listen to the worldy thinking that we are all plagued with, then those statements are correct, there is no way we can conquer that issue......BUT, the good news is that God can!!
3 weeks ago there was a new Care Clinic, that opened up in Tampa. It is a clinic for homeopathic treatment for autistic kids. It is cutting edge and not a very common treatment for these kids, although I strongly feel that in a few years it will be very common, if insurance companies will pick it up.
The doctors there tell us that about 99% of the kids that come in see some type of improvement, and about 50% of the kids see dramatic improvement.
They do about 45 different tests, genetic testing, blood testing, etc....to see what all toxins are in the kids bodies at high levels. Autistic kids typically have abnormally high levels of multiple different toxins in there bodies, that ultimately affect their brain. And also they are typically deficient in many vitamins and minerals, so these tests let us know how to treat these deficiencies or these high toxin levels.
Our insurance pays for about 70% of these tests, we are very thankful for that lots of insurance companies pay nothing on this type of treatment, or really anything autism related for that matter. The 30% is still very steep.
We got a call Sunday from the clinic finally telling us what our portion of the costs would be. Britt got off the phone and was crying, I knew it must be very expensive.
Right off the bat, worldly thoughts and lack of faith kick in. "Well, I really hate it Britt, but we cant do it, these tests and treatments are to expensive"......"what do you mean, we should do it? ok, if your not worried about rent, or groceries, or gas, or Coops tuition, then sure lets do it".
Boy, isnt it great to have a wife that is faithful to the Lord! We all need encouragement from time to time and God has blessed me with a wife that has faith and truly beleives God provides. I needed her at that moment. We prayed about it and decided that we need to do it for Cooper. We took him Tuesday morning and were there about 3 hours for his tests.
We packed up and left family and friends in Nashville for 1 reason. That was to get Coop the help he needed. Well a brand new Care Clinic is coming in 10 miles away from us, and the only other one like it is in Austin TX, to Brittney and I that was God telling us to go for it and he will provide.
The clinic in TX has people from all over the country come to it for therapy and even some from out of the country, we couldnt pass on this chance that has been provided to us.
We will be going back to the clinic, I think next sunday the 16th to meet with the doctor and go over the path they feel coop should take and what treatments would best suit him. Please pray that these treatments improve Cooper, we believe they will.
We thank God for putting you guys in our life. You all have prayed so much for our family and the prayers are working, please continue. And also thank you for all the help you have given Brittney and I in our time of need. The combination of Coop's Autism and me being a mortgage banker isnt a great combination at this moment..ha ha. The window isn't opened long for these autistic kids, by 7 or 8 years old it is much harder for them to improve as much as their earlier years.
It is on our heart to one day help families that are in need like you guys have ours, and that day is coming.
We love you.
Tim, Brittney, Cooper and Christian
